Central Baptist Church began as a vision in the hearts and minds of some dedicated believers from Bell Shoals Baptist Church in the mid and late sixties. The church body was constituted in 1967.
The members poured a great deal of blood, sweat and tears into her development. The first and second buildings erected on the property were the sanctuary and the education buildings which are now the fellowship hall/lunch room and pre-school/nursery wing, respectively.
Though the church had its challenges through the years, it grew in number and ministries. As a result, the need for a larger sanctuary and more education space arose. In 1974, the current worship center and office space was erected.
In 1980, the church got behind the vision for Central Baptist Christian School, a ministry of Central Baptist Church. As many Christians schools do, it began as a daycare program and blossomed forth to its present state of k3-12th grade. Our High School and Middle School are fully accredited through the prestigious ACTS accrediting agency and NCSPA. CBCS is an active member of ACSI, HCCEA, FASBC and SBACS.
In the early eighties a youth building was built, and in the mid-eighties, a two story education building was built. In the mid-nineties four modular classrooms were added, four more modular classrooms were added in 2000.
A new Middle school building with 6 class rooms, offices, a new Library and a modern Computer lab was added in 2003. This building houses our 6th, 7th, 8th and High School grades. The library and computer labs are used by students of all grades.
A modern state of the art fully equipped Gymnasium was opened in 2005. This facility houses a new cafeteria/dining area and kitchen. There is a large stage for school, church and community programs.
Central has had ten senior pastors and a host of associates and support staff. Though its membership has fluctuated through the past 40 plus years, the school ministry has grown consistently in the past 31 plus years. Our current senior Pastor is David West.
Central Baptist Church has always been filled with great potential. That’s why the greatest days and ministry are still ahead! We look for God’s sovereign will to be accomplished through us for His glory and His kingdom’s gain!
